This restaurant is for locals. They don’t serve Chicken Alfredo or spaghetti and meatballs. If you want true local cuisine, which I what I wanted, come here. We had no reservation and they fit us in. I asked the staff to order for us because I wanted to taste true cuisine not tourist food. EVERYTHING was and will be an everlasting memory. I only have a few pictures because I totally forgot the last course.. lol

Food is absolutely fantastic! Even though the place was really busy, the service remained warm, passionate, and attentive. Truly one of the best restaurants I’ve visited in Rome (and this is already my third time here!). The Rigatoni All’amatriciana is a hidden gem—rich, flavorful, and bursting with the fragrance of fresh tomatoes.

I heard about this restaurant from a greek travel tv show and it was highly recommended for its local cuisine. Its location in Testaccio, away from the historic centre, made me think it would be an original place where mostly locals eat. It was impressive to see that the place got packed a few minutes after opening at 7.30pm, and quite a few tourists (like me!) apparently know it although it's within a residential and very quiet area. We ordered quite a few secondi plates to try traditional dishes and they were all excellent. The involtino al sugo (beef roll) was amazing, as was the coda (oxtail) which was a melt-in-your-mouth meat that I'm glad I tried. The restaurant doesn't have any particular atmosphere or decoration and it's almost bare walls in a large building with 3 different dinning rooms. However, the quality of the food is the strong point there, amd I'm sure everyone goes there for that. I didn't try their pasta yet, but will do next time! Highly recommended if you want an excellent quiet dinner with traditional roman dishes away from the tourist buzz and endless queues of Trastevere.

Delicious food with tasty touch of Mt Vesuvius tomato and seasonal ingredients. My favorites were burrata, puntarella with anchovies sauce, lamb and the beef stripe in tomato sauce. The waitress was attentive even though it was very busy.

Vegans order Pasta E Ceci. And everyone else, order anything you want because there’s no way you will be disappointed. Glad to have found this place - filled with locals and relaxed vibe. Highly recommended!

The food is fantastic. They offer home made pasta - we tried the fettuccine with artichoke, the oxtail with potatoes, both the fried and cooked artichoke as a starter and the tiramisu. The red natural wine by glass was great as well. I would definitely recommend it even if the service is slow. We didn’t have a table reservation, but arrived at opening time and they could accommodate us. Later they were fully booked.

Flavio al Velavevodetto is a Real Roman Restaurant with one of the largest wine lists that I have ever seen in a Roman Cuisine Restaurant. Serves all of the classic Roman dishes and they are the original ones, all the food is delicious, the wine selection mentioned is absolutely fantastic. The restaurant during the summer season has also a pretty sweet outside area that makes enjoy more the pretty nice weather. If you never tried is a must In Rome. P.S. the Rigatoni with Pajata are to die for. Food: 9 Service: 7 Wine: 10 Vibe 9 Highly recommend this restaurant.
